Nonuniform mixing

چکیده
Fluid mixing usually involves the interplay between advection and diffusion, which together cause any initial distribution of passive scalar to homogenize ultimately reach a uniform state. However, this scenario only holds when velocity field is nondivergent has no normal component boundary. If either condition unmet, such as for active particles in bounded region, floating particles, or filters, then ultimate state after long time not uniform, may be dependent. We show that those cases nonuniform it preferable characterize degree terms an f-divergence, generalization relative entropy, use $L^1$ norm. Unlike concentration variance ($L^2$ norm), f-divergence norm always decay monotonically, even mixing, facilitates measuring rate mixing. by example flows mix well case can drastically different from efficient uniformly flows.

Degenerate four-wave mixing in the presence of nonuniform pump wave fronts.
We derive the set of coupled equations that describes the process of degenerate four-wave mixing in the presence of spatially nonuniform pump-beam wave fronts. We investigate the influence of phase mismatch between plane-wave pump beams on the efficiency and on the fidelity of the phase-conjugation process, and we furnish, in the near-collinear geometry, the expression of the spatial degree of ...
متن کاملComplete energy conversion by autoresonant three-wave mixing in nonuniform media.
Resonant three-wave interactions appear in many fields of physics e.g. nonlinear optics, plasma physics, acoustics and hydrodynamics. A general theory of autoresonant three-wave mixing in a nonuniform media is derived analytically and demonstrated numerically. It is shown that due to the medium nonuniformity, a stable phase-locked evolution is automatically established. For a weak nonuniformity...
متن کاملNonuniform bribery
We study the concept of bribery in the situation where voters are willing to change their votes as we ask them, but where their prices depend on the nature of the change we request. Our model is an extension of the one of Faliszewski et al. [FHH06], where each voter has a single price for any change we may ask for. We show polynomial-time algorithms for our version of bribery for a broad range ...
متن کاملNonuniform sampled scalar diffraction calculation using nonuniform fast Fourier transform.
Scalar diffraction calculations, such as the angular spectrum method (ASM) and Fresnel diffraction, are widely used in the research fields of optics, x rays, electron beams, and ultrasonics. It is possible to accelerate the calculation using fast Fourier transform (FFT); unfortunately, acceleration of the calculation of nonuniform sampled planes is limited due to the property of the FFT that im...
